Frequently asked questions

The app shows 0 steps / no data

Stepy reads steps from Apple Health. Check that:

  1. You granted access — Settings → Health → Data Access & Devices → Stepy → turn on Steps.
  2. Apple Health actually has step data. Open the Health app → Browse → Activity → Steps. If it’s empty, your iPhone hasn’t recorded steps yet.
  3. You’re on a real iPhone. Step data is generated by the device’s motion sensors; the iOS Simulator has none.

How do I change my daily goal?

Tap the goal area on the main screen and adjust it (steps go up/down in increments). The new goal is saved automatically.

How is the heatmap calculated?

Each square is one day. Brighter squares mean more steps relative to your goal. Tap any square to see that day’s exact step count.

The widget isn’t updating

Widgets refresh periodically rather than instantly. Open the app once to force a refresh, and make sure the widget is added from the Stepy app. If it still looks stale, remove and re-add the widget.

Does Stepy track my location or send my data anywhere?

No. Stepy has no servers and no account. All your data stays on your device. See the Privacy Policy for details.

How do I revoke Health access?

Settings → Health → Data Access & Devices → Stepy, then turn off the permissions you want to revoke.

I have a feature request or found a bug

Email ruslan.lepekha@gmail.com with your device model and iOS version, and a description (a screenshot helps). Thanks for helping improve Stepy.
